Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing laws are designed to prevent criminals from using legitimate businesses and transactions, including real estate, to conceal illicit funds or support terrorism. Real Estate agencies are included under Australia's AML/CTF framework as part of Tranche 2 reforms, increasing regulation and reporting for property related transactions. The reforms aim to build trust in the property market while aligning Australia with international standards.
Here at Matt Campbell Realty we are complying with the AML/CTF AUSTRAC regulations, which means verifying customers identities, whether buying or selling, before providing a regulated service.
This means that one of our agents, or our AML provider, may ask for information such as your full name, date of birth, occupation, residential address and details from your driver's licence or passport. If a company/trust, there's more information needed, but we will guide you through the process to ensure that the transaction runs smoothly. Additional steps are required where a client or transaction presents a higher level of risk.
Matt Campbell RE will only collect the personal information necessary to meet it's AML/CTF legal obligations and all information will be stored securely.
